New Website Design for Canadian Student Leadership Association
Canadian Student Leadership Association (CSLA) contacted me late last fall about upgrading their old website. As part of their new IT Strategy, they wanted to move from Django CMS to WordPress. Their old Django site was limiting their access to edit content on their website. It also had some disorganized navigation menus, and some very cheesy stock photos.
The focus of this upgrade was to improve the design, add multilingual capabilities so they can integrate their French language website, move to WordPress CMS, and also create a site that was easy to use on smartphones and tablets for their members across Canada.
Other upgraded features included:
- Better search function
- A slideshow that they can update themselves
- Improved site navigation (drop down, breadcrumbs, sitemap)
- Improved Search Engine Optimization
- A blog format for their Idea Share Shop
During the project, I also worked with Eric Wood Zhelka from EEZ Consulting Ltd. as he managed their IT upgrade strategy and skillfully integrated CSLA’s members database into WordPress using the CiviCRM plugin.
It was great working alongside Eric and Kim from CSLA for the duration of this project, and I’m glad we were able to meet their Spring deadline for the launch of the English site. The French/Multilingual component of the site is expected to be up and running this summer when the translations have been completed.
